Review Requests: Getting 5-Star Reviews on Autopilot

Online reviews are the single most influential factor in how new customers choose a local service business. A business with 50 Google reviews averaging 4.7 stars will get significantly more calls than a competitor with 8 reviews averaging 5 stars. Volume and recency matter as much as rating. The challenge is that satisfied customers rarely leave reviews unprompted. They need a nudge at the right moment. DialCloud automates this nudge with post-appointment review request SMS messages.

Timing is critical. The review request should arrive 2-4 hours after the appointment ends, soon enough that the experience is fresh, but late enough that the customer has had time to assess the work. The SMS includes a direct link to your Google Business Profile review page (or Yelp, or both), so the customer can leave a review with two taps. No searching for your business, no navigating review platforms. The fewer steps between the nudge and the review, the higher the completion rate.

A built-in satisfaction gate improves your average rating. When the customer first replies to the review request SMS with a rating (1-5), ratings of 4-5 trigger the review link. Ratings of 1-3 trigger an internal notification to your team instead, so you can follow up privately before a negative review goes public. This is not suppressing negative reviews. It is giving unhappy customers a direct line to resolve their issue, which most prefer over writing a public complaint.
