Dispatch Board 101: Assigning Technicians to Jobs

The dispatch board is a day-at-a-glance view designed for service businesses that need to assign jobs to specific technicians. Each column represents a technician, and each row represents a time block. Appointments booked by the AI appear as unassigned cards at the top of the board. You drag a card to a technician's column, and the assignment is confirmed. The technician receives an SMS with the job details, customer address, and any notes from the call.

Job cards on the dispatch board show key information at a glance: customer name, service type, scheduled time, address, and an urgency badge (normal, priority, or emergency). Emergency jobs are highlighted in red and pinned to the top of the unassigned queue so they catch your eye immediately. Each card is clickable for full details: the complete call transcript, customer history, and any photos or notes attached to the service request.

The most effective dispatch workflow is to review the board first thing in the morning. Assign all jobs for the day based on technician location, skill set, and current workload. As new bookings come in during the day (the board updates in real-time), assign them to the technician who can reach the location fastest. The board shows each technician's current schedule density, so you can quickly identify who has capacity for an additional afternoon job versus who is already packed. This visual approach to dispatching is significantly faster than calling each technician to check their schedule.
