5 Ways to Customize Your AI Agent's Personality

The default AI voice is professional and neutral, which works for most businesses. But the five personality settings let you dial in a tone that matches your brand. Voice selection is the most obvious. The seven preset voices range from warm and conversational (Nova, Shimmer) to authoritative and professional (Onyx, Echo). Choosing the right voice is like choosing background music for your lobby: it sets a subconscious tone for the entire interaction.

Beyond voice selection, the greeting message is your biggest personality lever. A law firm might use a formal 'Thank you for calling [your firm name], how may I direct your call?' while a landscaping company might say 'Hey there, thanks for calling [your company]. How can I help you today?' The greeting sets the formality level for the entire conversation. The AI matches its subsequent tone to the greeting style. The three remaining settings (speaking pace, filler word usage, and sign-off style) are subtler but collectively shape how natural the AI sounds. Slightly slower pace for healthcare and legal, normal pace for trades and retail. Minimal filler words for professional services, natural filler for casual businesses. A warm sign-off ('Have a great day!') for customer-facing businesses, a direct sign-off ('Your appointment is confirmed, goodbye') for high-volume practices. Small adjustments, but they add up to an AI that sounds like your business.
