Voice Cloning for Business: Use Your Own Voice as Your AI Receptionist

How voice cloning works

Voice cloning lets you upload a short audio sample, ideally 30 seconds to 2 minutes of clear speech, and the system creates a synthetic version of your voice that the AI agent uses for all calls. Most business owners record on their phone in a quiet office and get usable results on the first try.

The technology works best when your sample has a few things going for it:

  • A quiet recording environment with minimal background noise
  • A consistent speaking pace
  • A natural, conversational tone rather than a read-aloud style

Clone your voice, or use a preset?

The decision to clone your own voice versus using a preset voice depends on your brand. Solo practitioners such as therapists, attorneys, and consultants often want callers to hear their actual voice because personal trust matters. Multi-location businesses usually prefer a consistent preset voice that sounds professional regardless of which owner recorded it. The cloned voice is stored securely and used exclusively for your account.

Your sample provides the timbre and vocal character, not a script. The AI handles intonation and emphasis dynamically.

Setting it up

Voice cloning is available on the Business plan. To set it up, open your Agent settings, choose to clone your voice, and upload an audio file in MP3, WAV, or M4A format. The system processes the sample in about 10 seconds and lets you preview the result before activating it. If the result sounds off, re-record with less background noise and a slightly slower pace.
