How call forwarding works
Call forwarding is the fastest way to get started with DialCloud without changing your business phone number. You set up unconditional or no-answer forwarding from your existing provider to the DialCloud number we assign to your account. When a call comes in, your provider routes it to us, our AI agent answers, and the caller never knows the call was forwarded.
Setup takes under five minutes for most carriers, and you keep the number your customers already have.

We now provide step-by-step forwarding instructions for every major provider, each with the exact dial codes or dashboard settings for that carrier:
- Vonage and Twilio, which you can configure from their API dashboards with a single webhook URL change and no support ticket
- RingCentral, Grasshopper, and Google Voice
- Major US carriers including AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile
Forwarding or porting your number?
If you prefer to port your number permanently rather than forwarding, that option is also available. Number porting transfers ownership of your existing number to DialCloud via Twilio, so calls arrive directly without the forwarding hop. Porting takes 7 to 14 business days depending on your current carrier. Most businesses start with forwarding for immediate coverage and then port later for a cleaner setup.
